Polygala · Compute substrate

We build the compute substrate for AI agents.

Agents need more than a chat window. Polygala builds the machine they run on — isolated, persistent, embeddable anywhere. First engine: BoxLite.

polygala.ai/missionMission

Agents are only as capable as the environment they can act in.

Most agents live in a chat window. They can reason, but not truly do — install a package, run a build, pick it up an hour later.

Polygala builds the missing layer: a real computer an agent owns — hardware-isolated, persistent, embeddable on a laptop, elastic in the cloud. As fundamental to agents as the container was to the web. Open by default.

polygala.ai/what-we-buildWhat we build
BoxLite · Open source

A Box is a hardware-isolated micro-VM that persists.

  • Its own kernel — stronger than a container, lighter than a full VM.
  • Runs any OCI image unchanged: python:slim, node:alpine, your own.
  • Daemonless — embed as a library. No root, no service.
  • One engine, from your laptop to a multi-tenant cloud.

BoxLite is our first product. Engine, SDKs, and docs live at boxlite.ai.

polygala.ai/principlesHow we build
// isolation

Isolation is a feature, not a footnote.

Every box gets its own kernel — security you can reason about, not just hope for.

// portability

Embed first, scale later.

One engine from laptop to multi-tenant cloud. Start with a library import; scale to a fleet, no rewrite.

// openness

Open by default.

Infrastructure this foundational should be inspectable and forkable. The core is open source, and stays that way.

polygala.ai/careersCareers

We’re hiring people who like the layer under the layer.

Kernels, micro-VMs, seccomp, agent runtimes, schedulers. If that’s your idea of fun, let’s talk — small team, foundational problems, in the open.
